About BBL Heroic

The Gold Standard in Photofacials.

BBL Heroic (BroadBand Light) uses precisely filtered light energy to target chromophores in the skin — correcting redness, broken capillaries, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, and uneven tone while stimulating collagen for long-term rejuvenation.

Unlike older IPL devices, BBL Heroic delivers consistent energy with intelligent skin sensing technology that adapts to your unique skin tone — making it safer and more effective for a wider range of patients.

Most patients experience a "coffee ground" darkening of brown spots that flakes off within 7–10 days, revealing significantly clearer, brighter skin underneath.

Pre-Treatment Care

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning for at least 2 weeks before treatment
  • Discontinue retinoids (tretinoin, retinol) 5–7 days prior
  • Avoid chemical exfoliants (AHAs, BHAs) for 5–7 days prior
  • Arrive with a clean, product-free face — no makeup or SPF
  • Inform your provider of any medications, especially antibiotics or photosensitizers

Post-Treatment Care

  • Apply SPF 30+ daily — sun protection is critical for results and safety
  • Avoid heat — saunas, hot yoga, steam rooms — for 48–72 hours
  • Use gentle cleanser and moisturizer only for the first week
  • Do not pick or scratch treated skin as it heals
  • Resume retinoids and active skincare only after skin fully heals
  • Brown spots will darken ("coffee grounds") before flaking off over 7–10 days — do not pick

Frequently Asked Questions

What does BBL treat?

Sun damage, brown spots, freckles, redness, broken capillaries, rosacea-related flushing, and general uneven skin tone. It also stimulates collagen for long-term texture improvement.

Is BBL safe for all skin tones?

BBL Heroic is best suited for lighter to medium skin tones (Fitzpatrick I–III). Your provider will assess your skin tone and recommend the most appropriate treatment at consultation.

How many treatments do I need?

Many patients see significant improvement after a single treatment. A series of 3 spaced 4–6 weeks apart is recommended for optimal results.

Can I wear makeup after BBL?

Keep skin minimal for 24–48 hours. Once the coffee grounds darkening phase begins, avoid anything that may cause picking. Full makeup can typically resume once skin has fully healed — usually within 7–10 days.
